Luisa Cunha was unanimously chosen by the jury of the 2021 edition of the EDP Art Grand Prize - Grande Prémio Fundação EDP Arte. The jury emphasized “the originality, experimental boldness, multidisciplinarity, and the pioneering use of new languages” of the artist, pointing out her influence on the younger generations. The jury also underlined the way Luisa Cunha works the space and the sound from the verbal language, in a permanent game of construction and deconstruction of meanings. “The work of Luisa Cunha is out of generational classifications, inheriting the experiences of the dematerialization of the international art in the 70s. Being this a recognition award, it will certainly contribute to give Luisa Cunha the public visibility that her artistic merit justifies”, the collective said.
